ABOUT
US
| Over the past 5 years, Mid-City Urban, LLC has
become one of the foremost national developers of
mixed-income and mixed-use urban communities.
Specializing primarily in large-scale revitalization
projects in the eastern
United
States
, Mid-City Urban
brings a wealth of expertise and an established record of
experience to the development of complex, urban
developments. |
 |
Mid City Urban
continues the 40-year legacy of its founder, Eugene F. Ford,
in the development, rehabilitation, and management of
affordable multi-family housing. Over the past 4
decades, Mr. Ford’s companies, Mid-City Financial
Corporation and Edgewood Management Corporation, Inc. have
developed and rehabilitated more than 20,000 units of
affordable and market-rate rental housing, turning around
under-performing properties through financial restructuring,
effective property management, and capacity-building in
economically deprived communities. |
Mid-City
Urban now carries on this tradition of innovation in affordable
housing development through its participation in a wide range of
federal housing finance and development programs, including HOPE VI
public housing revitalization, HUD’s Section 8 Mark to Market
program, the Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program, and a variety of
state housing preservation programs.
The Company has expanded into other development activities including
transit-oriented development, through the mixed-use development of
two METRO Station sites in the Washington Metropolitan Area.
Throughout
the broad range of its development activities, Mid-City Urban has
maintained a core mission, based on a vision that every
individual has the right to affordable, livable housing. This
mission entails:
- Implementing mixed-income housing and community
revitalization strategies, through acquisition, development,
program management, or consulting services;
- Fostering the social and economic well-being of low- and
moderate-income households through support services, job
training and placement;
- Promoting the dignity and independence of the elderly
through appropriate housing and services; and
- Operating and maintaining affordable rental housing
through professional and responsive property management.
Organizational
values and integrity.
